Malaga is one of the few provinces in Spain with positive population growth. This fact, coupled with the natural ageing of the population, requires both the hospital and nursing home sectors to adapt to the new social reality.

The clear need for more hospital and geriatric beds is still an unresolved issue. However, in the medium term this need is expected to be partly met by new projects and the attraction of new investors and operators.

The social and HealthCare sector has experienced a greater degree of consolidation and professionalisation in the aftermath of the pandemic. Investment has maintained stable growth, with public and private initiative aligned for the development of this segment in the city.

Linked to the sector's growth, there is also a need for qualified and specific labour for this segment in Malaga.
